Animal Welfare Workshop

This workshop will animal welfare, with a focus on handling.
A pre-recorded introductory session will be available about a week prior to the live session on March 24.
SPEAKERS:
Dr. Miriam Gordon, PhD, BSc.
Dr. Gordon is Assistant Dean, International and Senior Instructor, Animal Science, as well as the Program Coordinator for Certificate in Animal Welfare at Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, NS.
She is a licensed CowSignals® Advisor.
Dr. Rebecca Meagher, PhD, BSc.
Dr. Meagher is Assistant Dean Professor of Animal Welfare at Dalhousie University Faculty of Agriculture in Truro, NS.
She is broadly interested in the effects of housing and management on the welfare and behaviour of captive animals. Specifically, she focuses primarily on dairy cattle and farmed mink, looking at the effects of the social environment and environmental enrichment on affective states, indicators of stress, cognition, and productivity.
The ultimate goals of Dr. Meagher's work are to improve methods of welfare assessment, and determine what stimuli need to be provided to animals to improve well-being on farms.
